About Me

My name is Ian Oram, and I'm currently studying biology at the University of Alabama. Throughout my whole life I have had an interest in biological systems and how they function. Cell biology, the endocrine system, the resilience of the human body, and nutrition have all, always piqued my interest. Coming to university has allowed me to further explore these interests and guide my interests into a career. Initially, my aspiration for university was to pursue medical school, and establish a career as a doctor. However, as I near the end of my undergraduate studies, the idea of medical school seems less enticing. While I enjoy schooling and learning, 3 more years of medical school alongside 3 plus years of residency does not appeal to me at the moment. Today I find myself exploring alternative paths within the realm of biology. Thus far, this has led me to a medical device sales company that implements business strategy and anatomy.

Beyond academics, the things I cherish most are my family and my passion for fitness. As the youngest of 6 kids, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers I always received the best advice in challenging scenarios, as my older siblings had likely already gone through the same. My mother and father have always pushed me to be my best, while constantly supplementing with encouragement and affection. My family is my support system and the bond we share is truly unique.

I also have a deep interest in fitness and health.  I have had a broad scope of training, from being a rower, a runner, a lifter, and an ironman triathlete. Each physical challenge I have taken on pushes my physical limits, and allows me to grow a greater sense of confidence and validation. To accompany this interest in fitness, I have also learned the intricacies of nutrition. I am always working to learn more and expand my knowledge on human performance and wellness.
